I build systemsthat talk to each other.
I'm Russ Gallivan, and I've run crews. Now I map how work moves through a contractor, connect the tools so a record is entered once, and give the owner one view of what's late. On real jobs, in English and Spanish, with a person signing off.

You don't have systems. You are the system.
If you own a contractor with 10 to 250 people, every price, field decision and billing question routes through you. When you step away, the work waits. Everyone says AI will fix it, and nobody says where to start or whether it's safe on a jobsite. I fix that one handoff at a time, with the owner, the office and the crew in the room. AI takes the first pass at the paperwork, and people make the calls. What I leave behind holds up on a phone in the sun, with gloves on, in a dead zone, and so does a team that knows how to use it.
This is the real map of MSC Safety Solutions, the safety-services company I own. Scheduling, the classroom, inspections, timesheets, the CRM and two client hubs are separate apps. I connected them through one sign-in and strict data contracts, so no app writes into another's tables and a record is entered once and reaches everyone who needs it.

Company hub
One sign-in for 11 of 11 tools, up from 3 of 11, and one access code per person with 39 tool links. No app writes into another app's tables.
Timesheets
Staff timesheets, live behind the company sign-in.
Inspections
The inspection tracker: 607 audit questions and route-planned site visits, and it keeps working without signal. Open findings now show one shared count on the dashboard and in reports.
Crane inspections
The crane school's inspection app, with 55 inspection forms and 4,167 questions.
Training calendar
The class calendar. Rosters reach the classroom without re-keying: 119 imports completed and 0 queued.
Classroom
Classroom management. Results reach the company hub and each client's hub: 4,486 with 0 missing, and 2,036 of 2,036 company-owned results at the right company.
Scheduling
Scheduling runs as its own app on the shared sign-in. Like every app here, it never writes into another app's tables.
Business CRM
Events from 4 source systems land here: 25,782 delivered, 0 pending and 0 mismatched. A lead lookup went from over 8 seconds to 446 ms.
Owner's morning view
One screen for the owner, fed by 7 systems and collected every 5 minutes. All 7 feeds were current at the dated check.
Client hub
Clients see their jobsites, schedules and 12 months of inspection activity, download reports, pull company statistics as PDF or CSV, record corrective actions with photos, request visits and check their employees' training.
Crane-inspection hub
In its pilot: clients request inspections for one crane or every crane due within 30 days, follow each request to report ready, open final reports through private links and send completed corrective work back for review.
These are system records, not a time study: hours saved haven't been measured yet. Each dot marks a dated live check on a link drawn here; across the company, 13 of 42 connections have one so far.
Six problems I fix. Each with a number behind it.
Each one starts as a handoff that runs through a person. Each fix ends in a number from a dated record.
You are the switchboard.
Every login, lost file and "who has access" question lands on you. I put the tools behind one company hub and one sign-in, with one access code per person.

You find out it's late after it's late.
One morning view for the owner, fed by seven systems and refreshed every five minutes. Where a dashboard and a report disagree, they get one shared count.
AI takes the first pass at the paperwork, with cited sources and spend caps, and a named person signs. Approvals, pricing, safety and people decisions stay human.
8AI systems, each with its limits written into the code
Training that doesn't prove anyone can do the job.
Courses built from your procedures, in English and Spanish, that end in a check, and pathways that keep knowledge, practice, verification and the employer's call as separate records.

19 builds
Answers with citations and verification badges · Retrieval over your own documents · Grounded drafts with validation gates · Speech-to-text and voice assistants · Usage limits and spend caps · Human approval queues · Coding-agent orchestration · Prompt libraries for project managers
11 of these builds call a language or speech model, and in 7 a person makes the final call. Crane manuals answer only from that unit's own pages in a steel contractor's pilot; a field-safety assistant gives cited answers under a daily cap, with 19 draft test questions awaiting expert sign-off; coaching drafts must quote the leader's own words; and an AI chief of staff reads mail but has no way to send it.

Counts come from my repo register of October 16, 2026: 91 business builds, leaving out personal projects, duplicate copies and placeholders. A build can count toward more than one discipline. Each proof line traces to a dated record in its repository, and where the work is a demo or still in review, the line says so. Client work is described by industry, never by name.

Leadership coaching · live
Coaching for the foreman nobody trained to lead.
Construction promotes its best tradespeople into leadership and hands them no method. The platform gives each leader one framework a week, has them use it on the job, and sends back a written coaching debrief on how it went. I wrote the curriculum and developed the platform, including the AI that drafts the coaching.
48 weekly lessons across four 12-week tracks, foreman to owner
Company sponsors see aggregate progress only, and nothing below five consenting leaders
Live, with invite-only sign-in and Stripe checkout; 116 automated tests plus 11 coaching regression cases
Check-inThe leader reports how this week's framework went on the job.
Safety routerCrisis, safety and strain reports never go to AI drafting. Crisis gets a fixed 988 and 911 message and an alert to me.
Claude draftsGrounded in a curated leadership knowledge base (48 principles, 13 field patterns, a diagnostic model) and the leader's own record.
Validation gateThe draft must quote the leader's own words, name the week, end with a dated next step and stay within length, or a rules engine writes it instead.
DeliveredCohort debriefs pass my review queue; individual debriefs go out at 8:00 AM Mountain the next business day.
More AI I've built · each with its limits written into the code
Six more, each with the rule it has to follow.
Crane manuals you can talk to
Pilot
An operator asks a question out loud and gets an answer only from that crane's own manual, with the original page to open. Questions about another crane are refused, and a capacity is held back unless the load chart is verified for that unit and setup.
LimitsNever invents, interpolates or calculates a capacity, or authorizes a lift · 10-minute voice sessions · 19 production checks, including adversarial requests
A field-safety assistant that shows its sources
Live
Answers OSHA and DOT questions sent as text, voice or a jobsite photo, citation first. A citation stays "verified" only if the official source was fetched that turn. Five triggers, including power-line contact and collapse, switch it to an emergency response.
Limits150 AI calls a day company-wide · 19 test questions, 2 of them prompt-injection probes, awaiting expert sign-off
Crew talks, checked word for word
Built
A consented recording of the crew's pre-task talk is transcribed, and AI drafts up to 8 observations. Any observation whose quote isn't word for word in the transcript is thrown out before anyone sees it.
LimitsOff until the company approves it · only a safety director or admin decides, with a named note · the AI's account has no way to record a decision
Hazard analyses on a budget
Built
Drafts job hazard analyses and toolbox talks for steel crews from the task details and a searchable hazard library, in English or plain Spanish. A second pass checks that no safety instruction was softened or dropped in the Spanish.
LimitsMonthly AI cap per company, cost logged on every call · told never to invent crane capacities, certifications, OSHA citations or approvals
Drawings that answer with a sheet number
Built
Ask the drawing set a question and the answer comes only from indexed pages, citing sheet and page, or it says "Not found in the indexed drawings." Revision changes come back as cards, and the model is told not to invent any.
LimitsAnswers without citations are thrown away · AI is switched off in the current pilot, where search runs without it
Family stories from a voice
Live
An older family member talks to a photo-frame app. Each recording becomes a transcript, a polished story and follow-up questions for next time, in a consumer app with sign-in and payments.
LimitsHourly and daily AI allowances per family · voice cloning removed on purpose, so every voice is the real one
How I build: AI agents on a short leash.
I direct AI coding agents the way a superintendent runs a crew: written work orders, one isolated branch per task, automated tests as the inspection, and nothing ships until I've checked it. That's how this work went from a front-end mockup in May to production pilots by October.
45of my repositories carry written rules for the AI agents that work in them.
My own AI chief of staff · built
It hands work to Claude Code and Codex agents. Its router can only read and spends at most $0.50 a decision. Each job runs alone in its own copy of the code, on a budget, and Codex works with the network off. Commits, pushes and deploys stay my call. It drafts email but can't send it: there's no send function, and a test proves it.

Train your team · AI and custom courses
I'll teach your people to use AI the way I build with it.
I've written 606 training modules and lessons for crane, rigging, safety, leadership and finance programs, more than half of them in English and Spanish, and I build custom courses from a company's own procedures. AI drafts and narrates much of that work, and release gates check the sources and the Spanish before a module ships. AI training gets the same treatment: your own documents, short hands-on sessions by role, and a check at the end like the one above, so people leave able to use AI and to catch it when it's wrong.
Already builtA Claude prompt library for a structural-steel contractor's project managers: 24 templates across estimating, project management, field operations and contracts, 7 workflows, and 10 decisions that never go to AI.

WFPWorkforce pathways
The work is there. The workforce isn't.
My workforce platform turns a critical role into a staged pathway: know it, do it, prove it. It also gives the field a voice that gets answered. Below is the real software, recorded end to end.

Can this company staff and run the work it just won?
Five weighted pillars become one readiness index. A failed critical control caps the score below Ready no matter how good the average looks, and evidence confidence is reported separately, because a high score on thin evidence is unproven.

Lift planning
Lift planners that refuse to guess.
A calculation engine and a 3D planning workspace: chart lookup with provenance, ground bearing and outrigger loads, two-crane load share, airspace and proof checks. When an input isn't confirmed, the plan stops and says why.

Case study · critical lifts
Ten real lift plans. 139 pages. 42 places where a plan disagreed with itself.
A manufacturing client's overhead-crane lifts came in as PDF lifting instructions: nine two-crane lifts and one single-crane lift, with loads up to about 22 t. My pipeline rendered all 139 pages, carried 678 numbers from the originals into rebuilt checklists with none missing, and recalculated every stated total. Rebuilding each plan into ordered field checks exposed where its crew tables, load and rigging tables, sequences, drawings and document control contradicted each other.
Conflicts found inside the ten plans, by type
Document control1313 of 42 · 31%A sign-off receipt cited a different document number from the plan it was bound into, so signing it wouldn't acknowledge that plan.
Crew roles in two-crane lifts99 of 42 · 21%One plan put the same spotter on opposite sides of the load in two sections; another listed three, two and four spotters in three places.
Rigging identity and ratings99 of 42 · 21%A sling listed at 264,000 lb in basket against 13,200 lb vertical, likely an extra zero, flagged to check against its tag.
Missing units and tolerances66 of 42 · 14%Strap positions given as “Radius 54–57” with no units, while a companion instruction used millimetres.
Weight totals that don’t add up44 of 42 · 10%A stated 19,868 kg total whose listed parts add to 19,888.4 kg.
Contradictory safety statement11 of 42 · 2%“No” to touching the suspended load, while the same row allowed a pole for alignment.
139/139pages rendered and inventoried
678numbers carried into the checklists, none missing
33questions written back to the plans' owner
10gated field checklists where anyone can stop the lift
The same discipline in my site-operations app
Eight anonymized crane-lift submissions from data-center projects went in as records. Fifteen review notes from those documents became open corrective actions: two capacities listed for one lift, ground support not established beside an underground vault, drawings marked for pre-planning only. All eight stay "gaps present". Nothing reaches review or release until a human lift director clears it, and AI or system accounts cannot record that decision.
Screening, not approval. The software found and logged the conflicts; the plans' owner decides which value is right. The checklists remain review copies, and no engineering approval is claimed.

Drafts survive a dead zone
Field entries stay on the device until there's signal, and they restore exactly as they were left.
